Consent Management Platforms (CMPs)

Introduction

This documentation provides a brief overview of how a CMP helps you protect your users, comply with industry policies and regulations, and improve your monetization.

It’ll also explain how to add Browsi as a vendor on your CMP setup.

Benefits of a CMP in Web Ad Serving

  1. Consent Compliance - CMPs help publishers comply with privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA. They enable managing user consent preferences, providing transparent information about data processing, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

  2. User Experience - implementing a CMP enhances the user experience by allowing visitors to make informed choices about their data privacy. CMPs offer user-friendly interfaces for consent management and transparency regarding data collection and usage practices.

  3. Monetization Optimization - by effectively managing user consent, publishers can optimize web ad serving. With a CMP, relevant ads are delivered to consenting users, improving monetization opportunities and ad engagement.

  4. Control and Flexibility - CMPs provide publishers greater control over their advertising ecosystem. You can manage vendors, select consent purposes, and customize consent mechanisms to align with business objectives.

  5. Reporting and Auditing - CMPs offer reporting and auditing features to track consent rates, monitor vendor compliance, and generate comprehensive reports. These insights help analyze performance, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate compliance.

Setting Up Browsi as a Vendor on Your CMP

  1. Access CMP Dashboard - log in to your CMP's dashboard or administration interface.

  2. Browsi Vendor Registration - locate the vendor or third-party integrations section in the CMP dashboard. Find Browsi in the list of vendors, filtering by one of these options (depending on CMP provider):

    1. Name - Browsi

    2. Domain - browsi.com

    3. Vendor ID - 329

  3. Save and Verify - save the vendor configuration and complete any necessary verification steps, such as domain verification or pixel placement, if provided by the CMP.

How to Choose a CMP

While many CMP providers are available for you to work with, there are a couple of things to consider when choosing your consent solution:

  1. TCF certification - CMPs can apply for IAB to verify their compliance with the TCF framework. This is the main framework that the industry is aligning around, in terms of consent management. It also ensures your compliance with regulations like GDPR and CCPA.

  2. Google certification - CMPs who are already TCF certified can then also apply for Google certification. While Google certifications is not required to comply with industry wide regulations, to continue getting access to the full scope of Google’s demand solutions your CMP needs to be approved by them.
