Background

One of the advanced features offered by the Video CMS is video expiration dates.

These can be set on a video-by-video basis, or by playlist.

Once a video’s expiration date has passed, you can still find that video in your playlists, but it will be marked as inactive and will not be served by the player unless re-activated.

By video

Single file upload

When uploading a file to your library, either from your local storage of a link, you can input an expiration date for that video.

Single file edit - coming soon

You can also edit an existing file in your library to add, change or remove the expiration date assigned to it

MRSS - coming soon

When you plug an MRSS feed into the Video CMS, you can set an expiration date for videos as one of the feed parameters

By playlist - coming soon

Instead of setting specific dates for specific videos, you can also set a relative expiration by playlist. This means videos will expire X days after they’re added to the playlist, where X can be different per playlist.

For example, you may want your:

  1. Recent events playlist to only serve videos from the past week

  2. Entertainment and gossip playlist to only serve videos from the past two weeks

  3. Science and nature playlist to only serve videos from the past four weeks
